Florida Roof Replacement Calculator
Enter your roof footprint and pitch to get the roof area in squares (1 square = 100 sq ft), then enter up to 3 written quotes to see each one as a price per square. We do not publish price ranges because we do not have verified Florida price data yet; your own quotes are the only reliable numbers.

How the numbers are worked out
Roof area = footprint × pitch factor. The pitch factor is the slope length per foot of run, √(1 + (rise ÷ 12)²): for example 4/12 gives 1.054 and 6/12 gives 1.118. One roofing square is 100 sq ft. If you add a waste allowance, it is applied on top.
Your quotes are divided by the squares above, so a quote that looks cheaper overall can be compared fairly with one that measured the roof differently. If two roofers measure very different square counts, ask each to show their measurement.

Common questions
Can my Florida insurer make me replace a roof just because of its age?
Not if the roof is under 15 years old. Section 627.7011(5), Florida Statutes, says an insurer may not refuse to issue or renew a homeowners policy solely because the roof is less than 15 years old. For older roofs the insurer must let you get an inspection first, and a roof shown to have 5 or more years of useful life left cannot be refused on age alone. Citizens has its own rules.
How many squares is my roof?
Divide the roof area in square feet by 100. A sloped roof has more area than its footprint, so multiply the footprint by the pitch factor first. The calculator above does both.
Why don't you show a typical Florida roof price?
We only publish numbers we can back with real data, and we do not yet have enough verified Florida roof prices. Material, pitch, permits, wood repair and your county all move the price, so compare written quotes from licensed roofers instead.
Does a Florida roof replacement need a permit?
Re-roofing is generally permitted work under the Florida Building Code, and the licensed roofer usually pulls the permit. Ask each roofer to confirm in writing that the permit and final inspection are included.
How do I check that a roofer is licensed?
Look the company up on its Florida Home Network profile or with the Florida contractor license lookup, which reads the state DBPR license record.
