How FHN Rank Scores work

A score from 0 to 100, calculated automatically from Florida public records. Same rules for every company. Method fhn-rank-3.2.

What a score is, and what it is not

  • Calculated automatically from public records: state licenses, business registration, workers' comp filings and disciplinary reports.
  • Not a rating of work quality, price or customer service. A lower score does not mean a company does bad work.
  • Never sold and never influenced by payment, plan, Sponsor placement or advertising.
  • Public records can lag. A license renewal or new filing may take a few days to a few weeks to show up here.
  • Missing or unconfirmed data counts as neutral (half credit), never as zero.
  • Owners can claim their profile free and request a correction. We acknowledge within 1 business day.

The seven inputs

Active Florida license up to 30 points

An active state license matched to this company in DBPR (or FDACS for pest control) records.

How an owner can improve it: If your license is active but not shown, claim the profile and request a correction with your license number.

Time in Florida up to 25 points

Years since the Sunbiz filing date or first license issue date, counted continuously and capped at 20 years.

How an owner can improve it: This grows automatically every day. If your start date is wrong, request a correction.

Workers' comp on file up to 15 points

Workers' compensation coverage or exemption on file with Florida DFS.

How an owner can improve it: Make sure your coverage or exemption is filed with Florida DFS. We pick it up on the next refresh.

Active Florida registration up to 10 points

The business entity is active with the Florida Division of Corporations (Sunbiz).

How an owner can improve it: File your Sunbiz annual report to stay active. Inactive registration scores 0 for this input.

Clean state disciplinary record up to 10 points

No CILB disciplinary final order on any of its construction licenses in the last 5 fiscal years.

How an owner can improve it: Not something you can buy or fix here. If a record is matched to you in error, request a correction.

License classes up to 5 points

Number of distinct active Florida license classes (1 class = 2 points, 2 = 4, 3 or more = 5).

How an owner can improve it: Additional state license classes count once they appear in DBPR records.

Statewide Certified license up to 5 points

Holds a statewide Certified license (state exam), not only a locally Registered one.

How an owner can improve it: Counts once a Certified license is active in DBPR records.

How rankings work

Rankings are not for sale. They are computed only from non-Google public records, each figure shown with its source and the date we checked it. Paid members can buy Featured slots, which are labeled Sponsored, shown apart from the numbered ranking, and never change it.

  • Entity match: a figure is shown and used only when we are at least 90% confident it belongs to this business.
  • Stale or low-confidence figures are hidden and count as neutral (half credit), never as zero.
  • Google ratings and review counts are never ranking inputs. We show them live with Google attribution for context only, and never store them.
  • BBB: we link to the BBB profile. We do not copy BBB grades or marks.
  • Numbered top 10 (top 5 in small markets). Licensed trades require a matched active license to be numbered.
  • Ties within 2 points share opportunity in match results by a random draw.

How matching works

Hard filters first (trade, active license where required, serves your ZIP, availability, your must-haves). Then the Rank Score plus service-area and availability fit. No Google data is used in matching. The matching code cannot read billing data, and a test proves flipping every plan changes nothing.

We show as many real images of a business as we are allowed to, and we credit every one. We are transparent, not territorial.

  1. Owner photos. Uploaded by a verified owner who confirms they own the rights or have permission. Always shown first.
  2. Google photos. Shown live from Google Maps Platform with each contributor's name linked, and labeled "Photos from Google". We do not download or store Google photos.
  3. Company website image. The logo or share image the company publishes on its own site, with a visible "Image from {domain}" credit linked to the page. We honor robots.txt and keep only a small copy plus the source link.
  4. Illustration. If none of the above exist, a Florida Home Network illustration.

We never copy images from Facebook, Instagram or other social networks. We link to those profiles instead.

Takedown: any owner or rights holder can ask us to remove an image using the image removal form. We remove it from display while we review.

Ranking and Featured Placement Disclosure

Effective: October 15, 2026 · Version: launch-1.0

  1. Rankings are not for sale. They are computed only from non-Google public records (Florida DBPR, FDACS, Sunbiz and DFS) shown with source links and "as of" dates. The full method, weights, freshness limits and match-confidence threshold are on the methodology page. Method fhn-rank-3.2 (October 2026) uses these weights out of 100: active Florida license 30; time in Florida, measured from the earliest license issue date or Sunbiz filing date and capped at 20 years, 25; workers' compensation coverage on file with Florida DFS 15; active Sunbiz registration 10; clean record, meaning no disciplinary final order in the last 5 fiscal years of DBPR Construction Industry Licensing Board discipline reports, 10; number of distinct active license classes 5; holding a statewide Certified license 5. Missing or non-applicable inputs count as half credit. A disciplinary record only means a company does not receive the clean-record credit; we never display it as a negative mark. Ties are ordered by the unrounded score, then alphabetically. Payment, membership, Featured placement, Google ratings and BBB grades are never inputs.

  2. Featured placements are paid. They are labeled "Sponsor" (older placements may read "Featured · Sponsored"), appear in a separate box apart from the numbered ranking, and never change any rank, score or match result. Links in Featured placements use rel="sponsored".

  3. Our conflict of interest. Stephens Quantum LLC also sells website services and AI readiness reports to businesses. Buying them has no effect on rankings. Our automated tests check that flipping every company's plan changes nothing.

  4. Google data. Google ratings and review counts are never used to rank, score or match. They are shown live with Google attribution for context only and are not stored. BBB grades and marks are not copied; we link to the BBB profile.

  5. Corrections. Every figure has a Dispute link. We acknowledge within 1 business day and resolve within 5 business days.

  6. Sponsors are paid. City, trade and city-and-trade pages may show a box labeled "Sponsor". It is paid advertising, limited to a few spots per page, sold first come first served, shown apart from the numbered ranking, and never changes any rank, score or match result. Links in it use rel="sponsored". In state-licensed trades only companies with a verified active license can sponsor.

  7. Paid email requests. When you send one request to several companies, you pick them from your own match results, which are ranked before anyone's payment status is looked at. Only companies that opt in to receive requests through us, and pay a flat fee for each verified request, can be picked. That fee never changes rankings or the order of your matches. We never sell your request to anyone you did not pick.
